2011 Cycle 1
Quick Draw Challenge #1: Anniversary Ball

Cheesy title I know but I've enjoyed enough Spumante tonight to be giggling about it. Anyways, this is my submission for Fashion Fever's first Quick Draw of the year. I know it's not a 'gown' but I've never been one for gowns and this was supposed to be what I would wear.

I've got a mild obsession with Rococo and Baroque fashion - and I do so lurv! Prince Poppycock. So when the requirement was Masquerade I absolutely had to go this route.
I stuck with the colors chosen because they are so bold and dramatic and reminded me of the Masquerade scene from 'The Phantom of the Opera'. I also wanted to mingle men's and women's fashion, hence the low corseted bodice and more feminine take on the cravat.
For the mask I focused on full face Venetian masks. The hat and feathered accessory are actually part of the mask. The wig is not and I went with pink to add a more subtle 'red' hint without keeping it white which would blend with the feathers.

I did use a stock item which can be found here: [link] For some reason I was just unsatisfied with my own pendants. The fabric of the coat would most likely be an embroidered brocade lined with silk. Gold silk ribbon, white silk stockings and lace add the accents to black velvet pants and shoes. (Velvet, along with silk and brocade, was a high fashion material of the wealth during this era.)

^.^
Hope you like and I enjoy critiques.
Design is (c) me

(UPDATE: added the 'face' to the main figure instead of keeping it more mannequin like for proportion.)
